2012 FYSA Teams

June 15, 2012

 Dear FYSA Parents,

On behalf of the FYSA board, I am writing to congratulate you all on the completion of the 2012 school year, and let you know that the fall 2012 soccer teams are now posted on the web site at: www.falmouthsoccer.com.
Just click on the link "FYSA Teams", and find your son or daughter's age group.
Please note: The teams are created using a rating system from the end of the previous season in order to create balanced teams (at the U9-U12 levels). For the U13 and U14 teams, we held evaluations a few weeks ago which allowed us to watch the kids during skills sessions as well as playing actual games. Ultimately, our goal is for all the kids to have fun while they continue to learn more about the game and develop their soccer skills. If you have any questions about this process, please contact me or the coaching committee chairperson, Janet Dye at janetldye@gmail.com. Also, we update the web site on a regular basis, so you please visit the site for relevant information and updates throughout the summer and soccer season.

Also, please mark your calendars with some important dates for the upcoming season:

IMPORTANT DATES:

Week of August 13th:
Many teams will start practicing this week. Your son/daughter's coach will be in touch with you to let you know your team's fall practice schedule. FYSA will also hold age-specific training camps during this week; details will be sent out shortly. The season will usually conclude by early to mid November.

Sunday, August 26
: The first league games will be held on August 26th. Please note that this first league game is before school resumesso plan your late summer vacation accordingly.  All league games are scheduled on Sundays, with a possible Saturday game or two during the season.

Labor Day weekend
: All FYSA teams are entered in Cumberland's JUST FOR FUN Labor Day weekend tournament. Teams play just one day - either Saturday or Sunday, and the games are 30 minutes long.  The schedule will be distributed as soon as it is published.

Columbus Day weekend (October 6-8, 2012)
: This is the date for the Falmouth Fall Classic (FFC) - a very important fundraiser and community event for FYSA.  All parents are asked to volunteer a minimum of two hours per player they have enrolled in the FYSA program. We are celebrating the 18th year of this wonderful soccer tradition and need involvement from the entire FYSA community. For more information, contact the 2012 FFC Director Ron Lydick at ronlydick@gmail.com

We wish you all a wonderful summer and we look forward to another great season of FYSA soccer in the fall!!

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE:
FYSA is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on parent involvement for a successful program. There are many opportunities for you to be involved, and we encourage you to please help out where you can, be it a coach, team administrator or board member. In addition, FYSA's annual Fall Classic tournament is our sole fund raising effort each year. It is an expectation that every family who has a child playing on a FYSA team cover at least one volunteering shift during the tournament. Much more on the Fall Classic in the months to come.
